Congratulations to Cadishead Primary School who lifted the LSC Primary School Football Competition shield after a nail-biting, sudden death penalty shoot-out in the final versus Bolshaw Primary School.
Eight schools competed on a chilly evening at Burnage Academy for Boys; Cadishead PS, Bolshaw PS, Cavendish CPS (Red and Blue), St James CoE, Acacias CPS, Temple PS, St Anne’s and Wilbraham PS.
After a fiercely contested group stage, four teams moved into the semi finals with Cadishead defeating Wilbraham and Bolshaw victorious versus St Annes. The final saw a repeat of the first game of the day, where Cadishead had defeated Bolshaw 2-0 in their group game. This time it was a much more even game with Bolshaw taking the lead before Cadishead equalised in the closing minutes to take the game into sudden death penalties.
With Cadishead trailing 2-1 on penalties their goalkeeper, Poppy, pulled off an amazing save to keep them in the game. Cadishead then scored their penalty to take it to a dramatic fourth penalty. Bolshaw missed, leaving Cadishead with the chance to win the final from the spot, which they duly took! Well done to both teams, a fantastic final, played in a great spirit, with all players a credit to their school.
The next LSC Primary School Competition to take place will be netball – details will be released in the New Year!
