Ryan Shenton, apprentice coach at little sports coaching, tells us why he wanted a career in sports coaching and why others should consider it too.
What inspired you to go into coaching?
“My passion to develop and help people into becoming better sports people, helping them develop in different areas such as communication skills, people skills better social mixing skills, I get a lot of joy out of seeing pupils you have taught put the skills into action where they should be used.”
What attracted you to LSC?
“I was attracted to LSC as first of all the reputation they have is excellent at developing not only pupils but also coaches as well, LSC is also a massive company that is growing continually and I really wanted to be a part of that. I was also attracted by how friendly and welcoming everybody was when I first met them on my first visit to the office.”
What advice would you give about doing an apprenticeship?
” The advice I would give anybody about doing an apprenticeship is DO IT there is nothing better than gaining qualifications to make you better as a person and a coach while also learning and improving from watching the other coaches on the job.”
What’s your favourite food?!
“My favourite food is a Sunday roast with loads of gravy over the top!”
