Congratulations to Pownall Green Primary School, winners of the LSC Primary Schools Netball Competition which was hosted at Levenshulme High School on Tuesday 24th March 2015.
11 teams entered from Cavendish Primary, Pownall Green Primary, Cadishead Primary, Wilbraham Primary, St Peter’s Catholic Primary, St Ambrose RC Primary, St Anne’s Catholic Primary and Acacias CPS.
The level of skill on show was great to see and it was a thoroughly entertaining competition. St Peter’s topped group A and St Anne’s topped their group, B. After some dramatic quarter final action, the semi final line up was St Peter’s versus Pownall Green Black and St Anne’s versus Pownall Green Yellow. In the first semi final, Pownall Green edge it 2-1. In the second semi final it came down to a nerve jangling sudden death shoot out. After 20-odd attempts, Pownall Green, as their other team had done so in the first semi-final, progressed.
After a discussion about whether the two Pownall Green teams wanted to play in a final against one another, the pupils decided that they did want to and so the all Pownall Green Primary School final took place. Fittingly, it finished 1-1 and the teams shared the spoils, lifting the LSC Primary School Netball Competition shield together.
A huge thank you to the pupils who played, the staff and parents who supported, Levenshulme High School for hosting the competition and to all the LSC staff who acted as umpires, scorers and generally ensured the competition ran in a smooth manner.
The next competition will be hosted in the Summer term. Interested schools can contact Paul Barrett on paul.barrett@littlesportscoaching.co.uk for further information.
